Oskar emigrated 28 Nov 1908 to America. He was employed as a farmer in Harding Co., South Dakota. He registered for the draft 1917/1918 in Harding Co., South Dakota. Adopted the name Oscar Carlson when he came to USA.
Homesteaded a farm in South Dakota, 160 acres in Harding Co., title transfered in Lemmon office (coordinates from Bureau of Land Management), as early as 1913. (Source BLM records)

Oscar married the woman that owned the neighboring farm. This lasted a short time - they separated and he had no children. She was a widow with more than 1 child (possibly with 1 year difference in ages), grown up at the time of his marriage. Her husband was often gone for a year at a time, then he died.
