We miss thee from the home dear mother
We miss thee from thy place;
A shadow over our life is cast
We miss the sunshine of thy face.
We miss thy kind and willing hand
Thy fond and earnest care;
Our home is dark without thee
We miss thee everywhere.
‘Tis hard to break the tender cord
When love has bound the heart;
‘Tis hard so hard to speak the word
We must forever part.
Dearest loved one we must lay thee
in the peaceful graves embrace;
But thy memory will be cherished
Till we see thy heavenly face.
