Obituary
COLFAX - Gerald “Bud” Scharlau, 71, of Colfax, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
Bud was born April 8, 1928, in Menomonie to Arthur and Laura (Holbein) Scharlau. He was raised on the family farm and often helped his mother with the younger children. In 1950 he married Gaynel Larson and together they raised five children. He was employed at Allen Bradley in Milwaukee for many years before moving his family back to Colfax where he farmed and worked at Sana Dairy until his retirement in 1990.
He was a proud grandfather, Democrat and Brewers fan. Bud loved to do crossword puzzles, play cards, garden and even can. He was a member of the American Legion Post 131 in Colfax.
Survivors include his five children, Michael (Rose) of Menomonie, Gail (Bryan) Kann, Jill (Dennis) Smith, Diane (Tom) Govin, all of Menomonie and Anita (Daniel) Molitor of Eau Claire; 11 grandchildren; five sisters, Joanne Scharlau, Deloris Huber, Carol Stuckert, Ethel Hendrickson and Ellie Brockman
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Dick; one sister, Irma.
Funeral services for Bud will be Friday, March 31, 2000, at 1:30 p.m. from Colfax Lutheran Chuch with Pastor Les Walck officiating, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.9
