Obituary
Harold D. Stuckert, of Elk Mound, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

He was born Aug. 18, 1932, in rural Bloomer, the son of Henry and Frances (Szymanski) Stuckert. He was baptized on Sept. 11, 1932, at Brush Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Bloomer, and confirmed June 23, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Eagleton. He grew up on family farms and attended schools in Bloomer, Chippewa Falls and Elk Mound, graduating from Elk Mound High School in 1950. He was in the U.S. Navy in 1956-57, serving on the USS Newport News stationed out of Norfolk, Va.

He and Carol Scharlau were married on Sept. 13, 1958, at the Colfax Lutheran Church. Harold was employed at Roberts Wholesale Co. in Eau Claire from 1958-68 and at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (Hilltop Recreation and the Mech. Shop) from 1968 until retiring in 1992.

Harold loved youth sports, especially baseball, coaching Little League and Babe Ruth teams in Eau Claire and American Legion baseball in Elk Mound. In later years he operated the game clock for Elk Mound High School football and basketball games. He enjoyed playing baseball, deer hunting, bird hunting, fox hunting (with Rob, Don and Wally), farming, playing cards, and hop-waltzing. He volunteered for the Elk Mound Area Fire Department and served on the Village Council. He was a member of the Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of Elk Mound; a daughter, Brenda (Steven) Johnson of Eau Claire; a son, Donald (Jeanne) of Portage; four grandchildren, Emily and Andrew Johnson and Theresa and Lauren Nagy; two sisters, Dona Nyhus of Verona and Carol (Thomas) Labs of Denver, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Ethel (Harold) Hendrickson of Beloit, Ida Scharlau of Beloit, Delores Huber of Colfax, Eleanor Brockman of Beloit, and Joan Scharlau of Colfax; a brother-in-law, Earl Iverson of Menomonie; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, (Arthur and Laura); brothers-in-law, Robert Nyhus, Arthur Scharlau, Gerald (Gaynel) Scharlau and Berwyn Brockman; and a sister-in-law, Irma Iverson.

Services were held Friday, July 16, 2004, at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound.
